Keep your ears peeled

There are 200,000 farmers in Canada. Let's dig into their problems! Episode 0 — or should I say Ground Zero — of The Hands That Feed Us: On Tour podcast will appear in your favourite podcast player this Thursday 18th June.

This first episode features Seann Dory, of Salt & Harrow farm in Tsawwassen, B.C. We talk about a previous project that he may be better known for, Urban Digs, and how they secured land by "offering tax-breaks to parking lot operators".

The podcast showcases what real people in farming communities think of the issues raised in my documentary — each episode brings the highlights of a post-screening discussion to you. From the challenges of revitalizing rural communities to unconventional ways to direct market grain, every community I've visited has its own flavour, and this is a way to see what's happening in the rest of the country!

The podcast will evolve as we get more used to what people want to hear about, so please send us your comments and feedback! We are just starting out, and I'm sure there will be lots to improve. If you like what you hear, please give us a rating and a review on whichever podcast platform you find us. Help us get the podcast out into the world!

Devon wants to have a movie night with as many people across Canada as he can visit! All you have to do is invite friends, family, and neighbours (10-15 is plenty), and offer a barn, basement or living room for a gathering. Devon will provide a projector, screen, and sound, and facilitate a post-screening discussion.

Devon is now in Ontario and heading towards Québec. He will be coming back west after visiting Newfoundland at the end of September. If he's already east of where you live — bring the tour to your hometown on his return back across the country!
